Systematic Cleaner

Privacy and data

Systematic Cleaner has no account, no telemetry and no ads. Your files, scan results and settings stay on your computer. This page lists everything the app downloads or sends.

What it downloads

The app works offline with the security data it ships with. When you are online it keeps that data current, quietly and only from free public sources:

  • Threat lists for Threat Monitor, from abuse.ch (Feodo Tracker, ThreatFox and URLhaus) and Spamhaus, about every 12 hours.
  • Vulnerability data for Vulnerabilities, from the NIST National Vulnerability Database. Only what changed since the last check is downloaded, at most every 12 hours.
  • Malware rules for Malware Scanner, from the YARA Forge community release on GitHub, checked once a day.
  • App updates for Systematic Cleaner itself, from Systematic's update server.

These downloads carry nothing about you or your computer.

What it sends

  • Breach Monitor sends each email address you add to XposedOrNot, a free public breach service, to check it. Only the addresses you add are sent, each at most once an hour, up to 25 addresses. Nothing else is sent.
  • Software Updater and Driver Manager run your own package managers (winget, Chocolatey, Scoop, npm, Homebrew, apt, dnf, pacman) and Windows Update, which contact their usual sources.

What stays on your computer

  • Settings, Activity, cleanup receipts and Recovery Centre records, in the app's data folder.
  • An optional list of every deleted file, off by default, under Settings → Keep a log of deleted files.
  • Storage History snapshots: folder names and sizes only, kept for up to 90 days within 250 MB.
  • Diagnostics recordings. When you export one, the file is not encrypted and includes the process names it recorded, so choose where you save it.
  • Registry and context-menu backups, in Documents/Systematic Cleaner Backups. Change the folder in Settings → Backups.

What it never does

  • Upload your files or their contents. Tools that read files, such as Duplicate Finder and Malware Scanner, do so on your computer.
  • Delete anything from a scan you start without your confirmation.
